Description
Altocumulus stratiformis clouds in spring, over Uluru. Altocumulus clouds occur at middle altitudes (2400-6000 metres). There are several types of altocumulus clouds. Altocumulus stratiformis typically forms sheets and is associated with fair weather. Uluru (only partially seen) is a large sandstone rock formation, the visible part of a much larger underground rock formation. It rises more than 318 metres above the surrounding plain. An Aboriginal sacred site, it is located in Kata Tjuta National Park. Photographed just after noon in October.
